Construction is a high-risk industry, and we don’t want injuries or fatalities. So, Health & Safety is important to keep people safe by controlling risks to health and reducing the likelihood of people coming to harm and suffering from ill health.
It’s also a legal requirement under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM) and the Management of Health and Safety Regulations 1999.
Health & Safety also needs to be integrated into everything constructed to reduce residual risks in future (building regulations).
This is usually the construction site manager – however there are many different stakeholders under the CDM Regulations 2015.
It all depends on the specific site, but as a basic overview:
The construction industry faces unique HR challenges such as high employee turnover, compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining effective communication across various project sites.
HR makes sure that all workforce management operations comply with laws, including national living wage, working standards, and safety regulations. HR also handles documentation and reporting related to compliance.
