George Osborne’s announcement to abolish National Insurance charges to companies taking on apprentices under the age of 25 has been well received.
It has been greeted with positive reviews from various different sectors. City & Guilds’ CEO has branded the announcement “a welcome surprise”, while John Harding, a PWC employment tax partner, believes that this initiative will help tackle youth unemployment.
Association of Employment and Learning Providers CEO Stewart Segal feels the Government should go one step further and extend the exemption to all apprentices who were previously unemployed.
