In February 2020, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) published brand-new guidance on promoting sexual safety in care settings. This followed the publication of their guidance in 2019 on relationships and sexuality in adult social care services. Both of these publications heavily suggest that this area will be increasingly important to CQC inspectors, with other regulatory bodies in the UK likely to follow suit.
The guidance offers advice to care providers on how they can support the needs of their service users to express their sexuality and to have their needs met while making sure they’re kept safe from abuse.
Our care experts have created this brand-new guide summarising CQC’s findings, as well as key questions and considerations care providers can make when supporting care users and their personal relationship needs.
