‘Fee for invention (FFI)’ means if your business is found to be in breach of Health & Safety law during an inspection, the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) will charge you for the time it takes to identify the breach until when you put things right. This includes investigating and taking enforcement action. As of April 2021, the HSE increased their fee to £160 an hour.
